S.K. Rice Mills

S.K. Rice Mills is another one you'll find on Narvana Road in Patran. We have been here for a long time, tucked away among the other industrial plots. The yard is usually full of empty bags waiting to be filled or stacks of wood for the boilers. It is a very practical place. We don't have a paved driveway, so it gets pretty dusty in the heat and muddy when the rains come. That is just the way it is on Narvana Road. Our machines are loud and they vibrate the whole floor, but you get used to it after the first hour of your shift. We don't have a fancy reception area. If you want to talk to someone, you just walk into the main shed and look for the person who isn't covered in as much dust as the others. We handle a lot of grain throughout the year, and it’s a constant cycle of unloading, milling, and loading back up. The work is hard on the back and the lungs, but it’s what we know how to do. We don't bother with advertising or making big claims about ourselves. Most of our business comes from people we have known for twenty years. We just try to keep the machinery in good shape and make sure the bags are weighed correctly before they leave.
