K.R. Rice Mills

Out here in Village Lung, things are a bit slower than in the big city. Our mill is right on Sirhind Road, which sees a fair amount of trucks passing through. We have been here for a while and the building shows its age a bit, but it works for what we need. The yard is usually full of grain when the season is right. You can see the fields from the back of the mill, which is a nice view when you take a break. We don't have a lot of rules, just that everyone needs to pull their weight. Milling rice is a messy business, and we all end up with husks in our hair by the afternoon. We drink a lot of tea to keep going. The neighbors sometimes stop by just to chat or see how the harvest is looking. We don’t bother with much paperwork beyond what is absolutely necessary. It is mostly about the physical work and keeping the machines from breaking down. Some days are longer than others, especially when a machine acts up and we have to stay late to fix it. We are just a local operation trying to keep things running smoothly on this stretch of the road. It is simple, honest work that keeps us all busy year-round. We often have to work through the weekends when the crops come in fast. It is just the way the cycle goes every year.
