About Khatter Shikha Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Fatehgarh Sahib
I run my architecture practice out of my house at number 275 in Sector-19B. It’s in the Preet Nagar area of Mandi. Having the office at home means I’m always near the work. My name is Shikha Khatter, and I spend most of my time at a drafting table or on the computer. The room is filled with blueprints and material samples like tile pieces and paint swatches. It’s a bit messy, but that’s how I think best. People from around Mandi come by when they want to build something new or fix up an old place. I don’t have a receptionist, so if the bell rings, I’m the one who answers it. I prefer it that way. It keeps things simple and direct. Sector-19B is a nice, quiet neighborhood, which helps when I need to focus on complex drawings. I’ve done quite a few projects in Preet Nagar over the years. You can probably see some of the houses I’ve worked on if you walk around the block. Architecture is basically just a lot of listening and then a lot of drawing. I try to make sure the spaces actually work for the people living in them. It’s a steady job. Some days are slow, and other days I’m working through the night to finish a plan. That’s just the nature of the business. I wouldn't want to be doing anything else right now.
