Karthikeya Rice Mandi

Karthikeya Rice Mandi is located right on G.T. Road in the Model Town area. Being on such a main road means it is never quiet here. There is always the sound of horns and the rumble of trucks passing by outside our doors. We spend our days surrounded by big sacks of rice and the dusty smell of grain that sticks to everything. It’s a traditional mandi setup, so things can get a bit messy, especially when we are unloading a new shipment. We have regular customers who have been coming to us at this Model Town spot for a long time. They know the routine, and they know where to park their scooters to stay out of the way of the bigger vehicles. The building itself is older and shows its age, but it serves its purpose well enough. We don’t have air conditioning or fancy displays; it is just rows of stock and a small wooden desk where we keep the books. During the harvest season, the place gets packed, and we are usually working late into the night just to keep up with the arrivals. It is hard work, and your back definitely feels it by the end of the week. We keep things simple and honest here. There isn’t much to explain about a rice mandi other than we show up, move the bags, and talk to the people who stop by. It’s just a local business on a busy road.
