K. N. Ceramics

Down here in Village Kumbh, just off Amloh Road, is where we run K. N. Ceramics. It’s a bit different from being in a big city. The air is a bit clearer, though the dust from the ceramics can get everywhere if we aren’t careful. We’ve been here for years, and most of the people working with us are locals from around the village. We work with clay and heat mostly. It's a lot of manual work, and your hands are rarely clean by the end of the shift. The shed where we keep the materials is large and sometimes a bit disorganized when a big shipment comes in. We don't have a receptionist or a lobby. You just walk in and find someone. It’s a quiet place for the most part, except for when the machines are running or a truck is backing in from Amloh Road. We handle the daily tasks ourselves, from mixing the base to checking the final pieces. It’s not a fast-paced environment where everyone is rushing. We take the time needed to make sure things aren't cracked or broken. If a machine breaks down, we usually fix it ourselves. We eat our lunch together under the shade when it’s hot outside. Life here is simple and revolves around the work we have in front of us. We don't have a big marketing department. We just make the ceramics and people find us here in Kumbh. It is a steady way to live and work.
