A B Cotspin India Ltd. is located out on Bathinda Rd. It’s a busy stretch of road and you can always hear the trucks going by at all hours. The morning shift starts early, usually before the sun is really up. You can see the workers arriving on cycles or walking from the nearby areas. Inside the facility, it’s mostly the constant sound of the machines running. It’s not a quiet place to work by any means. There’s a lot of lint and cotton bits floating in the air, so you get used to that pretty quick. We spend our time checking the output and making sure the machines don’t jam up. The office is just a small room off to the side where the paperwork gets piled up on the desks. Sometimes the power goes out and everything stops, and we all just wait around until it comes back on. It gives us a chance to have some tea and a quick chat. Bathinda Rd is always under some kind of repair, so getting here can be a hassle depending on the day. We don’t do anything fancy, just the regular work of spinning. Most of us have been here for years and know exactly how the old machines sound when they’re about to act up. It’s a long day, but it’s what we do. By the time the evening shift takes over, everyone is ready to head home.
