Etech Computer Education

Out here in Chandbaja, things move a bit slower than in the city. Our place is easy to find if you know the area. We set up these computers because kids around here didn't have many places to go to learn how to type or use the web. It's a small room and sometimes the power cuts out, which is frustrating when someone is in the middle of a lesson. We just wait for it to come back on and talk for a bit. I spend a lot of my time cleaning dust off the monitors because it gets everywhere in this part of town. We teach basic things, mostly helping people get comfortable with a mouse and a keyboard. There are about ten desks and they are usually full in the afternoons when school lets out. I remember when we first brought the machines in, everyone was curious. Now it’s just a normal part of the day. We don’t have fancy chairs or expensive software, just what is necessary to learn. I try to keep the place organized but with students coming in and out, there are always papers lying around and chairs moved out of place. It feels good when someone finally understands how to send an email for the first time. We are just a local spot trying to help people catch up with how things are done now. It’s quiet and we like it that way, just doing our thing.
