Upadaye Kirana Store

Our store is located in Sehatpur, Faridabad, specifically in the Sector 37 area. It’s a kirana store, so we mainly focus on the groceries that people use every day in their kitchens. We have large bags of rice, different kinds of dals, and big containers of oil sitting on the floor. The shelves are filled with smaller items like spices, biscuits, and cleaning supplies. Every morning, we spend time cleaning the jars and making sure everything looks decent for the customers. It’s a family-run kind of feel here, where we know most of the people coming through the door. We don't have fancy shopping carts; people just tell us what they want and we gather it for them on the counter. Sometimes we have to run to the back storage room to find an extra kilo of something. The shop gets quite crowded in the mornings and evenings when people are heading home from work. We use a traditional scale for some things and digital for others, depending on what we’re weighing. The neighborhood in Sehatpur is growing, so we see new faces too, which is nice. There’s always a lot of heavy lifting involved with the sacks of grain, and our hands are usually dusty by the end of the shift. We just try to keep the staples in stock so nobody has to go far for their basic cooking needs.
