United S. S. Engineering Works

You can find United S. S. Engineering Works over at 2-G/95 in the B.P. area of N.I.T. It’s a typical engineering shop where the sound of machinery is pretty much the background music from morning until night. We started out small and stayed that way on purpose so we can keep an eye on every single job ourselves. We mostly deal with stainless steel work, which is why we have the name we do. It’s a lot of cutting, welding, and polishing all day long. Some days the shop floor is covered in metal shavings and we have to do a big sweep before we can even see the floor properly. We don’t have a receptionist sitting at a front desk; usually, you just walk in and talk to whoever isn't holding a welding torch at that moment. Our neighbors know us well since we’ve been in this part of N.I.T. for a long time. We take on all sorts of jobs, from small fixes for locals to bigger fabrication tasks for companies. It’s dusty and loud, but we like the pace of it. We don’t make any big promises, we just look at the drawings and see if we can build it for you. Sometimes the weather makes the workshop way too hot, but the work doesn't stop. We just keep the big fans going and stay on schedule. It’s a simple setup, but it works for us and the customers we serve.
