Subhash General Store

Our shop, Subhash General Store, is tucked away at 2 H/92 in the NIT area of Faridabad. The pin code here is 121001. It is a very local neighborhood, so we see the same faces every single day. We sell a bit of everything, from notebooks for the school kids to washing powder for the housewives. The shop is small and it gets crowded quite easily if more than three people stand inside. We don’t have much room for fancy decorations or anything like that. I usually sit behind the counter on a small stool. Most of my time is spent weighing out loose items or making small packets of spices. The NIT area can get quite noisy with the traffic and people walking by. We open up early because that is when people need milk and bread. We stay open until late evening. Sometimes we run out of things and I have to go to the main market to get more stock on my scooter. It’s not a corporate business, it’s just me and sometimes my nephew helping out. We keep a record of who owes what in a small diary. The building isn't very new, but it's home to us. We like the regular rhythm of the street. If you live nearby, you probably already know where we are. We just keep things moving and try to have what people need for their homes without making a big fuss about it.
