About Spandan Institute For Performing Arts – Art & Craft in Faridabad
Spandan Institute For Performing Arts is tucked away here in Faridabad City, specifically at number 131. If you walk by in the late afternoon, you can usually hear something going on inside. Maybe it is the sound of someone practicing a traditional drum or the rhythmic sound of feet hitting the wooden floor. It is not a huge building, but we make the most of the small rooms we have. We started this place because we wanted a spot for people to actually do something creative with their time. There are instruments tucked into the corners and old mats on the floor for the dancers to use. The walls have some marks on them from years of classes, but that just shows it gets used every single day. Faridabad is a busy, industrial city, so having this little space for arts feels important to us. We don’t have a fancy lobby or a receptionist sitting in a suit. Usually, one of us just opens the door when someone knocks. The schedule changes a lot depending on who can make it and what they want to learn. Some evenings are really crowded with students and parents, and other times it is just quiet and we are cleaning up or tuning the instruments. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes with all the costumes and gear, but that’s how an arts place should be. We just keep the doors open and let the music happen.
