Rainbow Paints & Chemicals is situated at 1G/50 in the Faridabad N I T area, near Bungalow Point. It’s an interesting part of town to be in. Our shop is full of rows and rows of cans and containers. You can smell the chemicals as soon as you step inside, which is something we don’t even notice anymore after all these years. The floor has spills and marks from where we’ve been working, and the shelves are a bit crooked from the weight of all the paint. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. If someone asks for a specific chemical, we usually know exactly which corner it’s tucked into. It’s a hands-on kind of place. We don't spend much time on computers or making things look pretty for visitors. The focus is on the stock and making sure we get the orders right. Most of the people who come here are workers or regulars from the neighborhood. We talk about the weather or the local news while we handle the transactions. It’s a straightforward way to make a living. The sun hits the front of the shop in the morning, so we usually keep the awning down to stay cool. It’s a bit cramped inside with all the boxes, but we wouldn't have it any other way. We just keep moving through the day and doing what we have always done.
