Prabha Eye Hospital

Prabha Eye Hospital is located in Palwal Bazar, very close to the Bus Stand. Being near the bus stand means it’s always loud and there’s a lot of dust from the road. We see people hopping off the buses and coming straight to our door. The bazar is a maze of shops selling all sorts of things, and we’re just one part of that busy landscape. Inside the hospital, we have the machines for checking eyes and a lot of different lenses lying around. It’s a bit of an old building, so the floors are a little uneven in places, but we keep them clean. We spend a lot of time helping people read the charts on the wall. It’s a lot of "is this clearer or is that clearer" all day long. The waiting room fills up fast in the morning because the buses from the villages arrive early. We have benches instead of individual chairs to fit more people in. The staff stays busy moving from one station to another, and there’s always someone asking where the pharmacy is. We don't have a fancy coffee machine or anything, just a tap for water in the corner. It’s a practical place for a practical town. The heat in the bazar can be pretty intense in the summer, so we keep the fans going as fast as they’ll spin. It’s just how things are here, busy and a bit dusty, but we keep the doors open for whoever needs us.
