Our place is over in the Nit area, right near Hardware Chowk. It’s a loud intersection, honestly. You can always hear horns honking and people shouting outside. The shop is filled with spools of cables and wires of all different thicknesses. Sometimes the smell of rubber and plastic is quite strong inside. We keep the rolls stacked up high, which makes the aisles feel a bit narrow. We start the day by sweeping the front step. It gets dusty fast being so close to the chowk. We handle a lot of requests for different electrical setups. Most of our time is spent measuring out lengths of wire on the floor and cutting them for people. It’s manual work and can be hard on the hands. There’s a small desk in the back where we keep the ledger and some old catalogs. The lighting isn't great, but it works for what we do. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us managing the inventory and helping whoever walks through the door. Usually, it's contractors or local guys fixing things at home. We have a small radio that plays the news while we work. It keeps the background noise from the street a bit more bearable. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't found the time to do it. It’s a functional space for a cable business. We just focus on getting the right wire to the person who needs it.
