Chouhan Kirana Store

If you come down to Chen Market in Sehatpur, you’ll find us easily enough. Chouhan Kirana Store is just a typical neighborhood shop where we keep everything from bags of rice to small packets of biscuits. We open up early in the morning before the sun gets too hot, and we usually don't close until late when the last few people are heading home in Faridabad City. The shelves are pretty crowded because we try to fit in every little thing someone might need for their kitchen. It gets a bit cramped when three or four people are inside at once, especially when we’re unloading new crates of oil or sugar. Sehatpur is a busy area, and there’s always someone shouting outside or a scooter honking nearby. We’ve known most of the families around Chen Market for a long time. We don't have a big staff, just us behind the counter weighing things out and making change. Sometimes the ledger gets a bit messy, or we run out of a certain brand of tea, but we just write it down for the next delivery. It’s a lot of lifting heavy sacks and sweeping the floor. The floor is old stone and it’s seen a lot of feet over the years. We just keep the lights on and wait for the regulars to stop by for their daily supplies. It’s just a simple life here in the market, nothing more than that.
