Working at Aastha Eye Centre - Gipsa Ppn means being at two spots, 5-p/59 and 1-e/25 Nit. It keeps things interesting because you’re moving around a bit. The Nit area is always lively. There is always some noise from the street or people shouting hello to each other. Our setup is pretty simple. We have the chairs for people to sit in and the rooms where the eye checks happen. It’s not some big glass tower, just a local spot that’s been part of the neighborhood for a while. We know a lot of the people who come in by their first names because they’ve been coming here for years. Sometimes the equipment needs a little nudge to get going, or we have to hunt for a spare pen, but we manage just fine. We use old-fashioned clipboards for most things because they just work better than tablets sometimes. It’s the kind of place where we keep a jar of biscuits in the back for when we get a minute to breathe. We don't spend money on fancy rugs or designer wallpaper. We’d rather just make sure the lights work and the floors are clean. Life in this part of town is fast, but we try to take our time with whoever walks through the door. It’s a practical way to run things. Most days go by pretty fast because there is always something to do or someone to help out with.
