Madan Brick Field

Madan Brick Field is situated in Village Shisujhumra, which is under the Ethelbari post and police station in the Alipurduar district. This is a rural area where the land is wide and the air is different from the big cities. We spend our days out in the fields, working with the soil and the kilns. It is a long process to get the bricks ready, and it takes a lot of patience. The weather in Alipurduar can be quite unpredictable, with heavy rains that sometimes stop our work for days at a time. When it is dry, the dust flies everywhere and the fires in the kilns stay hot. We don't have a fancy showroom or a website to show off what we do. People just come down to Shisujhumra and see the work for themselves. It is a tough job and we are usually tired by the time evening rolls around. We have built a life here in Ethelbari, working alongside people from the local village. There is a sense of routine that comes with the seasons here. We prepare the ground, mold the bricks, and then wait for them to fire and cool. It is not a fast business, but it is steady. We just keep our focus on the daily tasks and making sure the stacks are ready for whenever they are needed. It takes everyone working together to keep the field running and we just take it one day at a time.
