Taj Garden Retreat

Our place is down in Kumarakom at 1/404. It’s a bit of a spread-out spot with a lot of green everywhere you look. It is very green. Being near the water means we deal with a lot of humidity and we have to keep an eye on the wooden parts of the buildings. The rooms are scattered around the grounds and there are paths connecting everything. We spend a lot of time outdoors keeping the leaves swept and making sure the place looks decent. It is usually pretty quiet here except for the birds and the sound of the water. We have a small team of people who handle the cooking and the cleaning. Most of us live nearby and we walk or cycle into work. The kitchen uses a lot of local stuff because that’s what is available. Sometimes the rain gets really heavy and we have to move quickly to make sure everything stays dry. It’s not the kind of place where people are in a rush. We see guests coming in to take a break from their normal lives and we just let them be. The furniture is mostly simple and we try to keep things functional. It takes some effort to maintain a property like this in the middle of all this nature but we are used to it. Every day is pretty much the same routine of checking the rooms and talking to the guests.
