Gurmukh Dass Shankar Lal Rice Mills

We are located in Brijraj Nagar, over in Bharthana. The name on the gate says Gurmukh Dass Shankar Lal Rice Mills, which is a bit of a mouthful, but people around here just know the place. It’s a family-run kind of operation, even if it has grown over the years. Brijraj Nagar is a decent area to be in, and being in Bharthana means we are right in the middle of where the grain is grown. The mill itself is an old-fashioned setup. We have the big storage bins and the milling floor where all the heavy lifting happens. Every morning starts with a look at the weather and then a look at the machines. If the sun is out and the machines are running, it’s a good day. We don’t have any fancy offices or shiny floors. Everything is practical and meant to handle the weight of the rice bags. Sometimes the dust gets so thick you have to step outside for a breath of fresh air, but you get used to it. The workers here are mostly locals who have been with us for a long time. We don't talk much about things like missions or values; we just focus on getting the rice through the mill and onto the trucks. It's a lot of work, and it’s often very dirty, but it is what we have always done here in Brijraj Nagar. We just keep going, year after year, and try to keep things simple.
