Amit Clinic

If you’re in Etawah, you might have walked past our clinic. It’s a small place, nothing too special to look at from the outside. We have a few plastic chairs in the waiting room and a wooden desk for the doctor. The walls are covered with some old posters about health that have been there for years. We get a lot of people from the local market and the nearby houses. Most days start around nine when we open the shutters. It’s usually a mix of kids with colds and older people who need their prescriptions filled. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who do everything from cleaning the floor to handing out the medicine. Etawah can get very hot, so the ceiling fan stays on high all day long. It makes a clicking sound that we’ve all grown used to. We don't use any fancy medical jargon here. We just talk to people like they are our neighbors, because they usually are. Sometimes we run out of certain medicines and have to wait for the delivery guy to come from the main city. It’s a busy little clinic, and there’s always someone waiting at the door before we even open. We just do our best to help everyone who walks in before we close up for the night. It’s simple work but it keeps us busy and connected to the people around here.
