Vidhyaranya Foundation

Our small office is located at number 24 on the Burgoor Main Road in Anthiyur Taluk. Being in the Erode district, we are surrounded by a lot of rural life and farming. The office itself is quite basic. We have a few sturdy tables and some old metal cupboards where we keep all our records. It’s right on the main road, so we see all the buses and tractors going by throughout the day. The air can get a bit dusty when the wind picks up, but we just keep the doors open to let the breeze in. We don't have air conditioning or anything like that, just a couple of wall fans that rattle a little. Most of the people who come to see us are from the nearby villages. They walk in with their questions, and we sit down together to see what can be done. It’s a very slow-paced way of working, which fits the area. We spend a lot of time writing things out by hand because the power isn't always reliable for the computers. We drink plenty of water and tea to stay cool. There’s no corporate dress code here; we just wear what’s comfortable for the heat. We’ve been part of this community for a while now, and everyone knows the building with the blue door. It’s just a simple place for local people to find some support.
