Komarappa Textiles

Komarappa Textiles is situated right across from Vani Vidyalaya School. If you come by during the morning or when school lets out, the street is absolutely packed with cycles and parents. We have been here for quite a while, watching the students grow up and move on. Inside the shop, we have stacks of cloth everywhere. It smells like fresh fabric and a bit of floor cleaner. We have a few wooden benches for people to sit on while they look at different materials. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling, so I have to use a rickety old ladder to reach the top rolls. My back usually aches by the end of the day from lifting the heavy bundles. We do not have a fancy display window or anything like that. We just keep the doors open and let the air in. Sometimes the bell on the door gets stuck, so we just leave it. It is mostly a family thing here. My brother and I take turns minding the counter. We have some regulars who have been buying from us since we first opened. They usually stay for a chat and a cup of tea. It is not a fast-paced life, but it keeps us busy enough. We just focus on getting the right lengths cut and making sure the math is right on the bills. It is a simple way to spend the day and we are used to it.
