The Chennimalai Weavers Co. Op P&S Socy. Ltd. is based at No. C.H.-4. Our mailing address is Post Box No. 11, if you’re sending anything our way. We are just one of the many weaving groups in this area, but we’ve been at this specific spot for quite a while. The cooperative is run by the members themselves. It’s not always easy keeping everyone on the same page, but we’ve managed to stay operational through some tough times. The workshop is where all the real action happens. It’s not very modern, but the looms work well enough for what we need. We handle the production and the selling part as a group. It means we share the work and the responsibilities. You won’t find any polished sales pitches here. We just show people what we’ve made and let the fabric speak for itself. The building is old and we’ve had to patch things up here and there. It’s a very local operation. Most of the weavers walk to work from nearby houses. We start early when it’s still cool and keep going until the day’s quota is met. We don't really think about things like missions or visions. We just think about getting the weaving done right so we can get paid and keep the society going. It’s a simple life and simple work, nothing fancy about it at all.
