If you’re waiting at the Teachers Colony Bus Stop, you’ve probably smelled what we’re doing at Srm Sweets. We don’t have a fancy street number, just the landmark of the stop itself. It’s a good spot because people are always hungry while they wait for their ride home. The kitchen is right at the back, and we start early in the morning, long before the first bus arrives. The floor can get a bit sticky with sugar syrup, but we try to keep it clean. We use big metal vats for the milk and sugar, and the heat from the stoves is intense. There isn't much room for sitting down, so most people just grab what they want and stand outside. We use plain boxes and paper bags. Nothing looks like it came from a big corporate store. Sometimes we run out of the popular items by midday, and we just have to tell people to come back tomorrow. We don’t really plan for it, we just make what we can. The regulars know us and they don’t mind the wait. It’s a noisy place with the buses pulling in and out and the conductors shouting, but it keeps us on our toes. We just enjoy the routine of stirring the pots and seeing the same faces every day. It is just a normal part of the local life around here.
