Sri Siva Polymers

Out here at 12, C, Kandampalayam, Sri Siva Polymers is where we spend most of our waking hours. It’s a quiet enough area near Po Box No. 30, but inside the gates, it’s a different story. We have the machines running most of the day, making all sorts of plastic items that people use without thinking much about it. The smell of melting polymers is something you just get used to after the first week. We aren't a huge operation with hundreds of people, just a local crew that knows how to handle the grinders and the extruders. Sometimes the power goes out and we all have to sit around waiting for the generator to kick in or for the lines to come back up. Those are the times we grab some tea and sit by the main door to catch a breeze. The sun hits this side of the building pretty hard in the afternoon, making the metal roof creak. We spend a lot of time looking at pellets and checking the thickness of whatever we’re making that day. It isn't glamorous work by any means. Our hands are usually a bit greasy or dusty from the raw materials we move around. We’ve been part of the Kandampalayam landscape for a bit now, and most of the neighbors know us by the sound of the delivery vans. We just focus on getting the orders sorted and piled up ready for the morning pickup.
