Sri Ganapathi Stores

Sri Ganapathi Stores sits along Kangayam Road here in Kodumudi. It’s a busy spot with all the buses going past, so there is always noise from the street. We’ve got the usual stuff stacked up on the shelves, mostly basic groceries and some household bits people need in a hurry. The floor is concrete and shows its age, but it gets the job done. In the mornings, we are usually busy unpacking crates of milk or sorting through the new stock that came in overnight. It’s not a big place, so things can get a bit tight if three or four people are inside at once. Most of the folks who stop by are regulars from the nearby houses. We know their names and what they usually buy on a Tuesday. Sometimes we run out of something because the distributor didn’t show up, and we just have to tell people to check back tomorrow. It’s a simple way to spend the day, really. You see the seasons change by what vegetables are available at the stalls nearby. We keep the fans running all day because it gets quite stuffy in the back corner. There’s always a bit of talk about the weather or local news while we weigh out the pulses. It’s just how life works here on this side of town.
