Sri Amman Stores

My family has been running things here at 137 Old Karur Road for quite some time. Killa Chinthamani is a busy part of town, so there is always something going on outside our door. The shop isn't very large. We have shelves packed with all sorts of things people need every day. Sometimes the aisles get a bit cramped when the new stock arrives. We try to keep it organized, but on busy days, things get moved around. It's mostly locals who stop by. We know many of the faces. It's nice to have a chat while weighing out pulses or grabbing a tin of oil. The building is older, and the floor has some scuffs, but it serves us well. We don't have fancy lights or big signs. Just the stuff people buy. The morning rush is usually the hardest part of the day. Then it quietens down around noon. We keep the doors open even when it gets hot. If we don't have something, we usually tell people where else they might find it. We aren't trying to change the world. We just sell groceries and household items. Life is simple here on the old road. We open early and close when the street lights come on. The wooden counter is worn down where people rest their hands while waiting. It has been there since my grandfather's time. We keep it because it still works.
