Red Bird Exports

Red Bird Exports is based out of a house at No 48 on 2nd Street in Thillai Nagar, over in the Pallipalayam area. It’s a busy neighborhood, especially being so close to the Agraharam. We use the ground floor of the building for storage and packing. There are always boxes stacked up near the front door, waiting for the courier truck to arrive. The street is pretty narrow, so when a big vehicle comes through, everything has to stop. We started this because we knew the local products well and had some space to spare. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so you’ll often find us sitting on the floor sorting through items or checking labels. The walls are a bit yellowed from the age of the building, and we have a lot of old wooden cupboards filled with samples and records. Pallipalayam gets incredibly hot in the summer, so we have the fans going at full speed, which makes the paperwork fly around if we don’t use paperweights. We drink a lot of coffee from the shop around the corner to keep ourselves moving. It’s not a corporate office with cubicles; it’s more of a home where work happens. We keep the front gate closed mostly to keep the neighborhood dogs out. We don’t do a lot of advertising, people just know we are here on the second street. It’s just us, some boxes, and a lot of tape.
