Kooban Bags

You can find Kooban Bags at No. 6 Jeevanandam Road in Marapalam. We make all kinds of bags right here in this small building. If you come by, you will hear the sound of sewing machines running all day long from the back room. There are rolls of fabric and zippers scattered all over the place on the tables. We started making bags because we saw a need for something sturdy that wouldn't fall apart after just a month of use. We use heavy materials and thick thread for everything. It is not a high-end fashion boutique; it is a workshop where we actually make things with our hands. We have a few people who are very good with the industrial machines. Sometimes we make mistakes and have to rip out the seams and start the whole thing again. That is just how it goes when you are working by hand and not using a big factory. The shop is on a busy road, so there is always a lot of activity outside the front door. We sell a lot of school bags and travel bags to people who live in the neighborhood. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that to show off. Most people hear about us from their friends or family who bought a bag here before. We just keep our heads down and keep sewing. It is a lot of repetitive work, cutting fabric and stitching handles, but it is honest work for us. We have been here for a while and we know most of the regulars.
