Our shop is number 291 on Krishan Street, just off Sathy Road. It is a small place but we have been here for a good while. Sathy Road is always full of traffic, so you can hear the horns and the buses all day long. Krishan Street is a little narrower, so things feel a bit more local and friendly here. We handle a lot of different items and the shop is usually filled with boxes piled up to the ceiling. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to sit down because there is so much stuff coming in and out. We start our day around nine and stay until the street lights come on. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to get around to it. Most of our customers are people from the nearby area who we know by name. We talk about the weather or how the road construction is going while we handle their orders. It’s a simple setup with an old ceiling fan that wobbles a bit. We don’t have a website or any of those modern things. We just write everything down and talk to people face to face. It’s a bit messy and loud sometimes, but this is where we spend our lives. We’ve grown used to the dust and the constant movement of the street outside our front door every single day.
