Bannari Amman Institute Of Technology is located in Alathukomobai, which is just outside Sathyamangalam. It’s quite a way out, surrounded by a lot of greenery and the hills in the distance. When you drive up to the place, the first thing you notice is how much space there is. It isn't like those cramped city schools. We have these long pathways connecting the different blocks, and it takes a good few minutes to walk from the gate to the back offices. The morning air is usually a bit cool before the sun gets high. You see a lot of buses coming in from all the nearby towns, dropping off heaps of students who look half-asleep. The labs are tucked away in the bigger buildings, filled with machines and tools that the students tinker with all day. We have some trees scattered around the grounds where people sit during lunch breaks, usually complaining about the heat or talking about their next project. The canteen smells like sambar and fried snacks most of the day. It’s a quiet life out here in Alathukomobai, away from the heavy traffic of the bigger cities. The staff mostly lives nearby or commutes from Sathyamangalam. It’s a large campus that feels like its own little village once the gates are closed and everyone is settled into their routine for the day.
