You can usually smell the leather before you even get through the door at 9/2 Sathy Bhavani Connection Rd. It’s a strong scent, but we’re used to it by now. We spend our days sorting through hides and checking the stitching on various items before they get packed away. The road outside stays busy with trucks coming and going, which is just part of being in this line of work. It’s not a glamorous job, especially when the weather gets hot and the warehouse feels a bit stuffy. We’ve been at this location for some time, and the locals know us as the place that’s always got crates stacked up near the entrance. Handling leather takes a lot of patience because every piece is different, and you can't just rush the process. Sometimes we find ourselves working late to get a shipment ready for the port. We don't have any big corporate offices or fancy break rooms. It’s just a bunch of us working with our hands and making sure everything is boxed up right. There’s always dust from the cutting floor, and someone is usually shouting over the noise of the machines to be heard. We try to keep things organized, but it’s a working shop, so there’s always something out of place. It’s just how we operate. Most of the guys have been here for years, so we all know the routine pretty well.
