About Balachandhar Textiles – Fashion & Trends in Erode
Our place is out at No. 111 in Ayakkattur, near the Cauvery Railway Station Post. Being near the station is helpful for getting things moved, but it's not a city center by any means. Balachandhar Textiles is basically a place where we live and breathe fabric. The sound of the looms is constant. It’s a rhythmic noise that you stop hearing after a few hours of being here. We work with cotton and other blends, depending on what the season demands. The building is a bit old, with high ceilings and heavy doors to keep the heat out during the day. We don't have any fancy signage. Most people just know us by our name or the location near the station. There’s always a bit of lint in the air and stacks of finished cloth waiting to be picked up by the trucks. We handle everything ourselves, from checking the yarn to looking over the final weave. It’s not a glamorous job. It’s dusty and can get very hot in the summer months. We usually take a long break in the afternoon when the sun is at its worst. We aren't a huge corporation; it’s just a family-run textile unit. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and we know the machines like they’re part of the family. It’s steady work, and it keeps the village busy.
