Vidya and Syam Architects

Our office is on the first floor of the Poornaprabha Building, which is right on Hospital Road in Tripunithura. Being right across from the Government Hospital makes it very easy to find, even for people who aren't from this part of Ernakulam. Vidya and Syam Architects is basically just us working away at our drawing boards and computers most days of the week. The building itself is quite familiar to the locals here. We have been in this space for a while now, and it has a very lived-in feel to it. There are rolls of blueprints tucked into corners and samples of materials sitting on various tables. It is not the kind of place that looks like a magazine cover; it is a working office where things actually get made. We like being in Tripunithura because it has its own character, different from the main city of Kochi. The area around the hospital is always active, so there is always something going on outside our windows. Sometimes the sounds of the street come in, but we don't mind it much. We have enough space for the two of us and our small staff to sit down and figure out designs. It’s a simple setup with good light coming in during the afternoons. If someone needs to find us, they just head toward the government hospital and look up at the first floor of the building across the street. There is no big corporate lobby here, just us doing our work.
