We are based in the Pottackal Arcade right on the Main Central Road in East Marady. Most people know the spot because it's quite busy with traffic passing through Muvattupuzha all day. It’s a plain office where we handle chit funds for the local folks. It isn't a fancy place with modern glass walls or anything like that. We spend most of our mornings sorting out the paperwork and waiting for the mail to come in. The building itself is easy to find if you are coming from the main town area. Usually, the staff arrives by nine, and the first thing is always making sure the fans are working because it gets quite warm here in the afternoons. People from the nearby shops often drop by just to say hello or ask about their monthly payments. We’ve been at this address, X/146D, for a while now. It feels like a regular part of the neighborhood. Sometimes the noise from the road makes it hard to hear, but we’re used to it. We keep our records in big ledgers and on the computer. It’s a small operation, really. Just a few of us making sure everything is counted correctly. Most of our day is just talking to neighbors who come in to pay their dues or check their balances. It is a steady routine that keeps us busy until we lock up and head home in the evening.
