Tom Smith Designers

Tom Smith Designers has been operating out of Angamaly for a while now. We are set up right on the ground floor of the Vyaparabhavan building. If you know the area, it is right behind the KSRTC bus stand, so we hear the buses coming and going all day long. It's just a regular office where we do our design work. Tom started this place because he wanted to work for himself and stay close to home in Ernakulam. The space isn't very big, but it fits our desks and all the papers we have lying around. Sometimes the office gets a bit dusty because of the road, but we don't mind much. People usually just drop in when they are passing by the bus station or coming from the market nearby. We spend most of our time staring at screens or sketching out ideas for folks who want to change their houses or shops. It's not a fancy corporate setup or anything like that. We just drink our tea, talk to the people who walk in, and try to get the drawings done right. Most days it is just us working through the pile of projects we have. We aren't trying to be the biggest firm in Kerala or anything, just a local spot where people can get some help with their designs. It gets pretty warm in the afternoons, so we usually have the fan going full blast. That is pretty much who we are and what happens here every day.
