Kulangara Furniture & Interiors

Kulangara Furniture & Interiors is based out in Mookanoor, which is near Angamaly. We use the address Pb No.2 for our mail and everything. It’s a bit quieter out here than in the middle of the city, which we like. We have our workshop where we do all the sawing and assembly work. You can usually hear the sound of machines if you walk by during the day. There is sawdust everywhere most of the time, no matter how much we sweep. We started this because we liked making things with our hands. It's just a small family-run type of thing. We don't have a big fancy showroom with bright lights. Most of our furniture is just stacked up or being worked on in the back. People from the village and nearby areas come to us when they need something for their homes. We spend a lot of time looking at wood and trying to figure out the best way to put things together. Sometimes a project takes longer than we thought it would, but that’s just how it goes when you’re working with natural materials. We’ve lived in Mookanoor our whole lives, so we know most of the people who walk through our door. It’s a simple life, just making chairs or cabinets and trying to do a decent job of it. We take a break in the afternoon when it gets really hot and then get back to the wood.
