Our office is located right on the Munnar Road in Kurupampady. It is a simple building and easy to find if you are driving toward the hills. Most of the day, we sit and watch the cars go by. Real estate here is quite different from the big cities. People are looking for land to build houses or maybe a small plot for farming. We know almost every stone and tree in this area. It started out as a way to help neighbors who wanted to sell their ancestral property. Now, we have some regular visitors who just come for a chat and some coffee. The weather changes fast here, and when it rains, we just sit inside and look at the old ledgers. We do not have a computer with all the latest software, we mostly use notebooks to write down who is selling what. It is a slow life, but we like it that way. My brother and I manage the phone calls. Sometimes someone from the city calls looking for a holiday home spot. We tell them the truth about the terrain and the water. It is important to be honest because everyone knows everyone in a small place like this. The road gets a bit dusty in the summer, but the breeze keeps the office cool enough. We usually close up early on Sundays to spend time with our families.
