Dept. of Orthopaedic Surgery Cochin Medical College

This is the Dept. of Orthopaedic Surgery over at Cochin Medical College. You can find us in Kalamassery, right in the Hmt Colony area of Kochi. Being part of a medical college means it’s always busy here. There are always people in the hallways, and the smell of antiseptic is something you just get used to. We deal with bones and joints, basically. It’s a lot of technical work, but we talk like normal people. The office is tucked away in the college building. We spend our time looking at x-rays and talking to students about how to handle fractures. It’s not a glamorous job. The Hmt Colony area is a well-known spot in Kochi, so people usually don't have trouble finding us. We have old desks and stacks of patient files that never seem to get smaller. Sometimes the rain in Kerala makes the commute to Kalamassery a bit of a challenge, but the department stays open regardless. We don't have a fancy website or a PR person writing our stuff. We are just doctors and staff working in the ortho wing. Students come here to learn the ropes, and we try to show them how it’s done in real life, not just in the textbooks. It’s a bit noisy with the construction nearby sometimes, and the tea lady comes around at four in the afternoon. That’s about it for our daily life here. We just get on with the work.
