Our office is situated on the first floor of the Poovmangalam Building. It’s right on the Kanjiramattom Bypass, which is usually quite busy with trucks and cars going past all day. Al Rafa Middle East Exports And Imports Private Limited is where we handle all our trade business. As the name suggests, a lot of what we do involves the Middle East. We bring things in and send things out. Being on the bypass is actually quite handy for the logistics side of things because the transport can get to us easily. The office itself is just a regular room with some desks and a couple of computers. We don't have a big lounge for visitors or anything like that. Most of our work happens over the phone or through email anyway. We spend a lot of time checking the prices and making sure the shipping containers are booked. It’s a lot of back and forth with the agents at the port. Sometimes the humidity makes the office feel a bit stuffy, but we have the fans going. We aren’t a giant corporation, just a private limited company trying to make a living by moving goods. We’ve been in the Poovmangalam Building for a bit now and the neighbors are all used to us. It’s a straightforward business and we try to keep the operations as simple as possible without any unnecessary fuss or complicated systems.
