We are down here at 203 Kakapalayam Road. It’s a busy enough spot in Vembadithalam and most people around here know where we sit. The building isn't anything fancy to look at but it does the job. My father started things off and now we just keep it going day by day. Usually, the morning starts with a lot of tea and checking what needs doing for the afternoon. It gets quite hot in the summers so we keep the fans running all day long. Sometimes the neighbor's dog comes and sits by the door which is fine as long as he doesn't bark at the folks coming in. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have lived in this area our whole lives. You can usually find one of us sitting behind the old wooden desk near the entrance. The shelves are mostly full and sometimes things get a bit dusty but that is just how it is when you are right on the road. We know most of the people who walk past by name. It’s a simple way of working. We don't spend much time on computers or fancy phones unless we really have to for an order. Mostly we just talk to whoever walks through the door. The sign outside has faded a bit over the years but everyone still finds us. We like being part of Vembadithalam and don't plan on moving anywhere else soon.
