Rana Marbles

Rana Marbles has been on Hospital Road for a long time now. We are right in Ward No. 2, so it is usually quite busy with people heading to the clinic or just passing through. Working with stone is heavy work. My back hurts most evenings but seeing the stacks of marble slabs in the yard makes me feel like we have done something. We get all kinds of people coming in. Some are building small houses and just need a bit for a bathroom, others want enough for a whole floor. We don't do much talking, mostly just showing what we have in stock. The yard gets a bit messy when it rains because of the stone dust turning into mud. We have to spray the slabs down so people can see the real colors and patterns. It is just me and a couple of guys doing the lifting. We don't have a website or anything. If you need us, you just come to the shop on Hospital Road. Sometimes we sit outside on plastic chairs when it is quiet and watch the rickshaws go by. The traffic can be loud but we are used to it by now. We try to keep the prices fair because everyone around here knows each other. It is a basic business. We buy the marble, we keep it here, and we sell it when someone asks. Nothing more to it than that really. We just hope the stone we sell looks good in people's homes once it is all polished up and finished.
