Our office is tucked away at L4-6 on Road No. 18 over in the Telco Colony part of Jamshedpur. If you know the area, it is pretty quiet most of the time except when people are coming by to talk about local projects. We have been here for a while now, just doing the work that needs to be done for the community. The rooms are filled with old desks and a lot of paper folders because we still write a lot of things down by hand. It’s not a big corporate setup, just a few of us sitting around and trying to figure out how to help out with development in the villages nearby. We spend a lot of time on the phone or sometimes just walking down the road to meet folks. Jamshedpur is a busy place but our little corner in Telco is where we get the thinking done. We drink a lot of chai and talk through the problems that come up every day. Sometimes the roof leaks a little when it rains hard, but we just move the chairs and keep going. We don’t really do fancy meetings or use big words. Most people just walk in through the front door when they need something or want to see how things are going. It’s a practical way to run things and it keeps us busy from morning until late evening most days of the week.
