The Red Mud Chalet

The Red Mud Chalet is located at the 13th Mile in Bermiok. This is way up in West Sikkim, so it is quite a journey to get here. The roads are winding and steep, but that is how the mountains are. We have been in Bermiok for a while now. It is a very quiet village compared to the noise of the bigger towns like Geyzing or Pelling. At 13th Mile, the air is clean and you can hear the birds most of the time. Our building is made to fit in with the landscape. It is not a modern city building. We don't have any neighbors right next door, so it stays very peaceful. We keep things very simple here. There is no big office or fancy reception desk. It is just us looking after the property and making sure everything is okay. West Sikkim is a different part of the world, and we are just used to it now. Sometimes when the rain is heavy, the roads can be a bit tricky, but we manage. We don't have any big marketing plans. We just stay here and do our work. If you are looking for the 13th Mile, it is just a small spot on the map, but it is home to us. The Red Mud Chalet is a place that feels real. We just keep it running day by day without much fuss.
