Our business, Sikkim Origin Packaged Drinking Water, is set up in Manbir Colony, down in Lower Burtuk. We are right along the Indira Bypass Road, which is a busy route for people traveling through this part of the state. Working in this hilly area has its own set of challenges, especially when the weather turns bad or the roads get blocked. But we’ve lived here all our lives, so we know how to handle it. We focus on getting clean water to whoever needs it in the colony and the surrounding areas. The facility isn't very large, but we keep it clean and make sure the equipment is working like it should. We don’t have a marketing budget or any fancy brochures to hand out. We just rely on the fact that people need water and they know where to find us. Most of our days are spent filling containers and loading them onto the small trucks that can navigate the narrow bypass roads. It’s hard work on the back, but it’s what keeps the lights on. We don’t pretend to be the biggest water supplier in Sikkim. We just focus on our little corner of Lower Burtuk and try to be reliable for the people who live nearby. That’s enough for us. We just take it one day at a time, making sure the bottles are ready before the sun goes down and the temperature drops.
