Mishra Stores

Our shop is right in the middle of Pasighat Bazar here in East Siang. If you walk through the market, you’ll find us easily enough. It’s a lively place, especially on market days when everyone from the surrounding villages comes into town to get what they need. We’ve seen the bazar change quite a bit over the years. Some shops have gone and new ones have opened up, but we stay put. The shelves are usually packed with whatever people are looking for at the moment. It gets a bit dusty when the wind blows through the bazar, so we spend a lot of time cleaning. It's a simple store. We don't have fancy lights or anything. Most of our customers are folks we've known for years. We talk about the weather, the local news, and how the crops are doing while we bag up their items. The rain can be heavy here in East Siang, and during those times, the shop becomes a bit of a shelter for people waiting for the clouds to clear. We open the doors early and stay until the sun starts to go down. It’s tiring sometimes, standing on your feet all day, but it’s good work. We keep track of everything in old ledgers mostly. It’s just how things are done here in Pasighat. We aren't trying to be anything big, just a local spot in the bazar.
