About J N College Pasighat – Education in East Siang
Being up in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, means the scenery is nice, but getting around takes a bit of work. We are at the Upper Campus here. It’s a bit of a climb compared to the lower parts of town. The college has been around for a long time, and you can see that in the walls and the old trees on the grounds. Because it's Arunachal, we get a lot of rain, so the campus often looks very green, though the paths get slippery. Students come from all over the district to stay here. The classrooms are basic, just the usual stuff you need for lectures. It’s quiet up here away from the main market noise, which is good for the classes, I suppose. Sometimes the power goes out, which is just part of living in the hills, so we just wait for it to come back on. Most people in Pasighat know where the Upper Campus is because it’s a bit of a landmark. We don't have those big glass buildings you see in cities. It's mostly just concrete and tin roofs that make a lot of noise when it pours. The staff usually stays nearby or walks up from the town below. It’s a slow-paced life, and the college follows that same speed. You won't find anything too modern, but it serves the people who live in these parts well enough for their daily studies and meetings.
