Our main base is at Vill-Rayrayna Chak in the Purba Medinipore district of West Bengal. The nearest post office is Pitamber Chak. It is a bit of a remote location if you are coming from the city. We have a large area here where we keep our construction materials and the heavy machinery we use for erecting projects. The ground is often covered in gravel and dust from the trucks coming and going. We have a small building that serves as our office where we keep the registers and the payroll. It is not a place for meetings with important people in suits. We usually wear our work clothes and boots all day long. The village life is slow but our work is usually very busy. We have to coordinate with a lot of people to get the steel where it needs to go. Sometimes the deliveries are late because of the traffic on the highway or the rain making the village roads muddy. We just deal with those things as they happen. Our staff has been with us for a long time and they know the business inside and out. We eat our lunch together in the shade when the sun gets too hot. There is no hierarchy here really. Everyone just does their part to make sure the job is finished. We have been in this spot for years and don't plan on moving anywhere else. It is just how we do things.
