Madina Masari Stores is located in the village of Ajanmari. We are in the Purba Midnapur district, under the Khejuri police station and Janka post office. It is a quiet place where everyone knows each other. Our store is just a small building along the main path in the village. We sell the things that people around here need for their daily lives. It’s not a supermarket; it’s just a regular local shop. Most of the day is spent sitting on the wooden bench out front, waiting for neighbors to stop by. We talk about the weather and the crops while we weigh out goods. The store is filled with all sorts of items, from soap to snacks, and it can get a bit cramped inside. We don’t have computers or fancy cash registers. We just write everything down in a ledger. Life in Ajanmari moves at a slow pace, and our store is a part of that. We open early in the morning when the sun comes up and stay open until it gets dark. Sometimes when there is a festival, it gets very busy, but usually, it’s just a few people at a time.
