Utm Civil Engineers

We are Utm Civil Engineers and we are based up here in Shillong. Working in this part of the country is interesting because of the terrain and the weather. We spend a lot of our time dealing with the rain, which can really slow down a construction site. Our office is just a regular room with some drafting tables and a couple of computers that have seen better days. We don't spend as much time in there as we do out on the actual job sites. Being a civil engineer in Shillong means you spend a lot of time driving on winding roads and checking on progress in various spots. It’s a lot of mud and boots and heavy jackets most of the year. We’ve been doing this for a while and have seen how the town has changed and grown. We aren’t a huge company with hundreds of employees. It’s just a small team of us who know how to handle the local conditions. Sometimes we have to stay on site until late to make sure everything is secure before a storm comes in. It’s hard work, but we are used to it by now. The office always smells a bit like damp coats and old paper. We don't have a big fancy sign outside, just a small one so people know where we are. It’s a practical life for us here, mostly focusing on the next project and hoping the weather stays clear for at least a few days in a row.
